A note on gender

Russian is a very gendered and binary language, and it can be difficult to use for someone who doesn't feel comfortable with such terms. Transgender and non-binary native Russian speakers of course exist; some non-binary Russian speakers choose to use the neuter grammar while some prefer to switch between masculine and feminine, especially since the neuter gender is generally for inanimate objects.
